The mobile and fixed radio operators will offer narrowband data connections and in the longer term may turn to UMTS(the third generation mobile standard). The MAN operators already offer broadband access through the use of direct fibre connection and will opt for increased geographical coverage. The cable TV companies are now offering digital services and install cable modems for Internet services. Satellite TV is offering interactive back-channels using PSTN to enhance their services. Finally, the long distance companies will move into the local market and direct access either through their own or leased infrastructure.
